I’d always thought I’d be a scientist.
I’ve always wanted to improve things. When I was a kid, I spent my time digging through our basement, seeing what items I could remix and combine to make our lives better. I went through an entire box of sandwich bags and zip-ties creating and iterating on a cooling drink coaster for my parents. One day, I’ll solve it.
This passion for improving the lives of those around me led me to study design at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), where I fell in love with Interaction Design. I started my career doing interfaces for medical devices, where I relished in making sense out of complexity and chaos.
It starts with supporting people
In all of my roles, I was drawn to everything around getting the work done. On the side of my design work I found myself having conversations with my co-workers to learn how they could be supported better or talking to clients about what’s getting in the way of executing on their vision. I turned each of those insights into action to impact the culture of the organization and give my client’s what they needed to establish a new way of working.
My approach for supporting teams is not dissimilar to a therapist–I start by having conversations, co-creating approaches with my teams, and crafting plans to marry business goals and personal growth.
Outside of work, you’ll find me doing culinary experiments with my wife, chasing around our toddler, dissecting television and film, or planning return trips to my favorite international cities.
